Lucille is a rare beauty, an exceptional textile treasure discovered in the Marché aux Puces in Paris. The faded ivory linen is woven with a traditional rouge damier checkerboard and framed with a jacquard woven border of crimson brocade. When the torchons were unfolded I gasped, they make the most beautiful canvas for an embroidered poem. The silk threads will add a whisper of something new: a love letter written in needle and thread, a conversation between past and present, cloth and hand, silence and story.
Lucille includes 3 torchons that each measure 75 × 61 cms. There is enough fabric to embroider 6 poems but I think these would be much, much more beautiful and resonant as a set of three - they seem to have been made especially for Tender Whispers from the Heart! These antique textiles are sourced in the oldest flea market in Paris, vintage linens are often timeworn and may be slightly stained or be darned in certain places, this makes them even more special, a preloved linen for you to treasure.
