Vintage Floral Fancies - Treasured Chintz
This beautiful 18th century cotton was wood-block printed by hand in France. It speaks to generations of craftspeople and a love of textile savoir-faire shared by India and France. The Treasured Chintz was discovered by a vintage textile expert who works in the Flea Market in Paris and she was so excited to show me. I just couldn’t resist temptation, there’s over 200 years of history, heritage and beauty woven into the fabric - I had to keep a little piece for myself! We chose a rich selection of deep blues, vintage reds and warm ecru to embellish and embroider the gorgeous, delicate flowers and foliage blossoming on a deep aubergine background.
The Treasured Chintz fabric measures 40cm x 40cm and comes with 6 skeins of Soie d’Alger spun silk embroidery floss. This is the last remaining piece of Treasured Chintz and it really is a textile treasure, I was very lucky to find it!
