Cosette
Cosette is a rare textile treasure discovered at the oldest Flea Market in Paris! A full length chore apron in écru manufactured by the legendary Duthilleul and Minaret. Established in 1850, at 56 rue Tiquetonne, beside the bustling central market of Les Halles, this neighbourhood was named the ‘Belly of Paris’ by Émile Zola. Duthilleul and Minaret had a mission to manufacture durable clothing for artisans and merchants specialising in food; butchers, bakers, cheesemongers, fruit & vegetable sellers, fishmongers, chefs, waiters. As the label shows, the historic brand moved to Rue Turbigo at the end of the 19th century where it continues to sell the finest, most durable workwear, to celebrated cafés, hotels, restaurants, bistros, brasseries and all the merchants needed to supply their busy kitchens.
This small collection of full-length chore aprons have never been worn, aged by time, they have waited patiently to be embroidered and embellished with tender whispers from your heart. Perhaps evoking cherished memories of childhood spent in warm kitchens, with flour-dusted tables, a favourite apron, and the tempting aromas of baking filling the air with impatient excitement for the treats to come.
These antique textiles are sourced in the oldest flea market in Paris, vintage linens are often timeworn and may be slightly stained or be darned in certain places, this makes them even more special, a preloved linen for you to treasure.
